The Wollongong Hawks have scored a big coup right before season tip-off with the signing of Australian centre Luke Nevill.
With Larry Davidson on the sidelines with injury, the Hawks are very thin in the middle, which makes the signing timely.
Nevill has had previous NBL experience with a variety of clubs, including Townsville, Melbourne and Perth. He was a big part of the Wildcats’ season in 2013, where he last played in Australia averaging just under 13 points per game.
Wollongong were considered outsiders of the field in the upcoming NBL season according to many NBL analysts and betting outlets, however this addition will surely make fans and punters alike think twice.
Throughout the NBL Blitz it was obvious that size played a major part in both Hawks losses, while others also believed their backcourt depth was a question mark. The name Rhys Martin was thrown up in consideration to bring back, however it is now Nevill that fills the last roster spot.
Wollongong’s roster now stands at: Nevill, Gary Ervin, Jahii Carson, Oscar Forman, Dave Gruber, Adam Ballinger, Larry Davidson, Tyson Demos, Tim Coenraad, Dom Cooks and Brad Hill.
