EuroView: Talbot leads Gorzow in Polish quarter finals
Stephanie Talbot has helped lead her side AZS AJP of Gorzow to a 2-0 quarter finals series lead over CCC Polowice in Poland.
Gorzow won round 1 of their Polish league quarter finals, overcoming Polkowice by 2 points. Steph Talbot led the way for her side with 19 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals in a brilliant effort. Nicole Seekamp wasn’t far behind, finishing up on 12 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 steals.
Round 2 saw Gorzow take a much easier win over Polkowice to claim a 2-0 lead in the quarter finals. It was all things Talbot again, as the Aussie guard banked a game high 16 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals in what is a super match. Seekamp totaled 11 points and 5 assists for the match.
Good Angels were knocked out of the EuroCup Finals, going down to Galatasaray 82-66 in the second round of quarter finals. Despite their EuroCup hopes shattered, Angels still put up a strong season and Australian Rebecca Allen finished their EuroCup venture on 8 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists.
Hatay banked another win for their season in the Turkish league, overcoming Adana ASKI 67-64. Natalie Hurst was exceptional, second top scoring with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Hatay were forced out of the EuroCup in the semi finals, going down to Bellonga Agu 71-65. Despite the loss ending their EuroCup hopes, Hurst still delivered with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists.
Game 1 of the Russian league quarter finals saw Dynamo Moscow claim a 5 point win over Chevakata. Katie-Rae Ebzery totalled 10 points, 3 rebounds and 8 assists, while Alex Bunton scored 6 points for the match.
Tarbes suffered an 8 point loss in France to Modeville, however Abby Bishop continues her stellar form. She totalled 17 points, 9 rebounds, 2 steals and 3 steals for the match.
In devastating news, AZS UMCS of Lublin have announced that Australian Tess Madgen has suffered a knee injury and the remainder of her season is in doubt. No further details are currently available.
