In the VTB United League, Avtodor have done what nobody has been able to do in 2018; beat Lokomotiv Kuban.

Leading by as many as 17 points in the third period, Lokomotiv’s guard dropped, allowing Avtodor to launch a late game rally to put themselves in the position to steal the win.

The final period was a classic, with 5 lead changes and 7 ties, setting up a thrilling finale. Avtodor’s Maxim Sheleketo landed a triple  at the buzzer to cause a 93-90 upset–on Lokomotiv’s home court no less which had until then been a fortress all season [video highlights]. Micah Downs led the way for Avtodor with 22 points, while Justin Robinson had 17 and 10 assists. For Lokomotiv, Ryan Broekhoff went 6-11 from the field on his way to recording 14 points with 5 rebounds and 2 assists.

The VTB United League pace-setting Lokomotiv had only allowed 67.8 points per game this season, yet Avtodor exploded in the second half for 50 points alone.  Dropping to second place in the standings, Lokomotiv will have to regroup quickly as they next take on third placed CSKA Moscow who have been carrying some great recent form.

Thanks to a solid 73-83 win over Nevezis, Lietuvos Rytas solidified second place in the Lithuanian league standings. The victory was established on the back of an 18-8 first term, a position from which Rytas never relinquished. Rokas Giedraitis came off the bench to score a team-high 21 points and was one of four players for Rytas to score in double figures.

Australian veteran guard Ben Madgen saw just 5 minutes of action and had little opportunity to impact the game. His side now turns their attention to ladder leader Zalgiris Kaunas in a top of the table clash that promises to be the game of the season.

Michael Vigor contributed 8 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists, but the Bristol Flyers dropped a close one 84-79 to the third placed Glasgow Rocks in the British Basketball League.  Currently mid-table, Bristol pushed Glasgow all the way, before their opponent pulled away late for the narrow win.

In the German Pro A, Baunach was beaten soundly 80-64 by first placed side Vechta. William McDowell-White found the scoring difficult, adding 6 points on 2-9 shooting (2-4 3PT) while also compiling 3 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals. Baunch who are currently in last place, are just win win away from pulling themselves out of the relegation zone.
