Dean Demopoulos named new Melbourne United head coach
Melbourne United Basketball Club have recently announced that they have signed 61 year old Dean Demopoulos to be the new head coach on a two-year deal.
With many candidates applying for the top job on the Melbourne United roster, Demopoulos' long list of accomplishments on a global basketball scale stood out from all.
Demopoulos has a set mind frame, planning to achieve the best out of all his players, which has spanned back over decades, from coaching Kennett High School in Pennsylvania, to being second fiddle to Los Angeles Clippers coach Vinny Del Negro at the time.

In between all of this, Demopoulos spent 17 years at Temple University, while also coaching University of Missouri-Kansas City for a year, before making the bold move to ply his trade as an assistant coach in the NBA at both Seattle and Portland.
In addition to his already slick resume, he was one of the few candidates for the head coaching role with the Houston Rockets in 2011, before being recently hired by WNBA star Brittney Griner as a personal skills coach.
United chief executive Vince Crevelli was extremely pleased to have landed such a well rounded and skilled coach for the season ahead.
“Dean is an outstanding person and basketball coach with a wealth of experience and knowledge and an outstanding set of values.
“He has staunch loyalty to the programs and people he has worked with, he is invigorated by the vision we have for Melbourne United on and off the court and he ticks all the boxes for us. We believe Dean has all the attributes that we need from our coach,”
Demopoulos is expected to arrive and join the team on April 20, according to the club.
