Broekhoff and Madgen make it rain from downtown
Ryan Broekhoff and Ben Madgen lit up from behind the arc in Top 16 EuroCup action with different results, while Brock Motum could not prevent a third straight loss for Zalgiris Kaunas in EuroLeague.
Round 16 of the EuroLeague saw Zalgiris Kaunas take on Crvena Zvezda Belgrade. Coming out of the gates, Zalgiris didn’t look to be on par with their Serbian counterpart, giving up a stunning 7-21 lead early. From there they just could get themselves back into the game, finishing the night on the losing end of a 77-61 loss, their third straight.
Brock Motum finished the game with just 8 points and 6 rebounds in 26 minutes of playing time. However through 16 games in the EuroLeague, Motum has been one of the top players in Europe. Zalgiris Kaunas has an offensive rating of 116.3 points per 100 possessions with Brock Motum out on the court. That alone just shows the type of value he brings to the team on a nightly basis along with his 12.5 points per game at 62% from the field and 43.9% from the three-point line. His 116.3 points ranks first on the team, and sixth in the entire EuroLeague when ranking him among the players that have seen more than 300 total minutes on the season.

Ryan Broekhoff was on fire from behind the arc in Lokomotiv Kuban's road victory over Gran Canaria. The versatile forward drained 5-0f-8 three-pointers in finishing with 17 points (6/10 FG), 4 rebounds and 1 assist in 30 minutes of action. His excellent play really helped catapult Lokomotiv to victory over a strong Gran Canaria team, prevailing 86-71.
Gran Canaria did their best to put up a fight, but in the end it just wasn’t enough as they couldn’t contain their Russian adversary all night. Lokomotiv shot 54.5% from deep and a stellar 59.6% from the field. Those shooting percentages just show how bad Gran Canaria's defense really was, and because of that they weren’t able to get ahead all game.

Lietkabelis Panevezys came away on the wrong end of a 80-88 loss against Khimki Moscow. After battling back and forth against a strong Khimki side through much of the first half, Lietkabelis started to slip up with their play in the third quarter. Khimki outscored them 28-20 in the period, ultimately allowing them to pull away.
Despite the loss, Ben Madgen delivered a huge individual performance. He finished the night hitting a red-hot 5-of-8 from downtown on his way to scoring 19 points (7/14 FG) and dishing out 4 assists in just 26 minutes of action. Madgen was one of the lone bright spots for Lietkabelis, but even with his big game the team wasn’t able to earn themselves their first win in the Top 16.
