This is the time of year basketball fans live for. Not only does the intensity go up another level, the heat in the sneaker department rises too. The last couple of weeks of the regular season and the first round of the playoffs has seen some great sneaker moments.
Here are the top 5 kicks from April, in no particular order.
Nike Zoom Kobe 1 PE – DeMar DeRozan (Toronto Raptors)
DeMar DeRozan has been lacing up Nike Kobe’s all season long, but when we he took to the court in a pair of Nike Zoom Kobe 1’s it was a huge surprise and treat for all fans of the signature line.
The extremely sought after shoe was released in 2006 and hasn’t seen much court time since. DeRozan clearly felt comfortable in the original shoe as he almost posted a triple double with 27 points, 8 assists and 8 rebounds.
Air Jordan 6 ‘Carmine’ – Will Bynum (Washington Wizards)
The Air Jordan 6 ‘Carmine’ was one the biggest releases of last year, but we haven’t seen much of them on court. Will Bynum laced up the popular kicks when his Wizards took on the Nets in Brooklyn.
Bynum loves to lace up J’s and this game was clearly no exception. He also wore many different colourways of the Nike Kobe 9 throughout the season.
Air Jordan 10 ‘Lady Liberty’ – Isaiah Thomas (Boston Celtics)
Isaiah Thomas was a revelation for the Celtics after he was acquired at the trade deadline, and not only for his scoring punch off the bench. He laced up many pairs of J’s, including the Air Jordan 10 ‘Lady Liberty’.
Isaiah Thomas has a very solid rotation of J’s, with his go-to shoe throughout the season being the Air Jordan CP3 VIII.
Nike Zoom LeBron 3 ‘All-Star’ – LeBron James (Cleveland Cavaliers)
LeBron James has led the Cleveland Cavaliers to the post-season for the first time since 2010. He has done so in an array of Nike LeBron’s, most of which were the 12th edition of his signature shoe. But in April he laced up a pair of Nike Zoom LeBron 3 All-Star’s against the Boston Celtics.
LeBron must not have felt at home in the shoes though, as he switched to a pair of LeBron 12’s during the second quarter.
Air Jordan 11 ‘Bred’ – Jrue Holiday (New Orleans Pelicans)
Jrue Holiday sure knows how to make a statement when the playoffs come around. In what was the Pelicans first playoff game against the Warriors, Holiday laced up a pair of Air Jordan 11’s.
These J’s are the holy grail for many sneakerheads out there and Holiday, who has an impressive collection himself, clearly rates them as well.
