Aussies in NBA: Jingles bell time is a swell time
Joe Ingles was a busy man against the Warriors today. He was staying active on both ends of the court in 20 minutes of game time.
Heading into a few days off over Christmas, Joe Ingles and the Jazz are sitting with a record of 12-15. Whilst the record itself may not look great, it is a solid effort considering the huge loss of Rudy Gobert.
Against the Warriors, Ingles was his usual energetic self, finishing with 6 points (2/3 from deep), 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals. The well-rounded performance shows, given the opportunity, Jingles can contribute worthy minutes to this Utah Jazz outfit.
Whilst Ingles' minutes have been up and down all season long, over the past four games he has played at least 17 minutes three times. This rise in minutes is a testament to his hard work and ability to stay ready.
Yesterday, Ingles caught up with DJ and PK from The Zone for a chat about all things Jazz and coping without their big man.
"Defensively, Rudy [Gobert] is a huge part of what we do. In saying that, it's going to happen all year, there is going to be games where we are missing people... There's always little adjustments, but I think if you've got a solid make-up of what you do offensively and defensively and stick to it, one or two people missing doesn't make that much of a difference.
Obviously having Rudy out there helping us out would be great... [But] we've got guys who can fill in and help out when we are down on numbers."
When asked whether he and his teammates talk about the playoff race or not, Jingles made it clear that it is all about the process.
"As cliché as it might sound, it is all about that next game, the little things that we need to fix... We know the process that we have to go through to get there [the playoffs], and what makes us good and we know what loses us games as well."
We keep learning on a day-to-day basis."
The Jazz will be back in action on December 27 as they take on the Clippers at home.
