Aussies in NBA: Cavaliers offer qualifying extension to Dellavedova
It certainly looks like the Cavaliers are keen to keep Delly on the roster - at the right price.
The Cleveland Cavaliers have officially extended qualifying offers to three players today: Tristan Thompson, Iman Shumpert and finally Matthew Dellavedova, who reportedly received a US$1.15 million offer.
Delly will be a restricted free agent this summer, and Cleveland's move essentially allows them to match any offer other teams could potentially extend. It's highly likely Dellavedova will continue to be in a Cavs jersey when the new season rolls around, unless a team offers a "poison pill" contract (reference: Jeremy Lin/Houston Rockets deal in 2012), or a lucrative one that stretches the Cavaliers' budget too far.
The Cleveland guard played in 67 games (13 starts) in the 2014-15 regular season, averaging 4.8 points, 1.9 rebounds and 3.0 assists in 20.6 minutes. During the playoffs, he suited up for all games, appeared in seven as a starter and averaged 7.2 points, 2.1 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 24.9 minutes per game (source).
Dellavedova 14th in jersey sales
Dellavedova's relentless and gritty style of play during the playoffs has captured not only the Cleveland front office's attention, but also that of fans everywhere. ESPN journalist Baxter Holmes shared a list of the NBA's top-selling jerseys earlier, and Dellavedova's name is surprisingly 14th, right behind Thunder guard Russell Westbrook.

What do you think, will there be any other teams out there that would be keen to fight for Dellavedova's services?
