Aussies in NBA: Bogut to be waived?

Andrew Bogut might not be a Cavalier for much longer, according to ESPN's Dave McMenamin.

Bogut, who suffered an untimely leg injury during his debut with the Cleveland Cavaliers, went under further imaging and diagnosis this week at the Cleveland Clinic.

The team has confirmed that Bogut's fractured tibia has been set, and non-surgical treatment has begun, with a recovery plan to follow after. ESPN has suggested that Bogut might be returning to Australia for rehab work, with the expected time of recovery is projected to be late 2017, before training camp kicks off.

With that being said, the Cleveland Cavaliers lost a veteran defensive anchor, and might look to make adjustments soon.

According to an anonymous ESPN source, the Cavs are looking to waive Bogut, and free his roster spot up for a free agent signing. McMenamin has also mentioned swingman DeAndre Liggins as a possible casualty, should the Cavs pick someone up; Liggins' waiver would be part of the salary balancing act and help partially offset Bogut's salary.

This roster adjustment is reported to happen when the Cavs return from their three-game road trip, with the third game being played against the Houston Rockets on 13 March (14 March Australia time).
