Aussies in NBA: Andrew Bogut traded to the 76ers
It's been a long time coming. Andrew Bogut has been in trade rumours for a few months now, and he's finally been traded from the Dallas Mavericks.

Many of us expected him to move to the Boston Celtics or another contender, receiving some form of draft consideration in return. However, the hold-up in talks between the Cs and the Mavs ultimately made Dallas decide to go in another direction instead, giving up a protected 2017 draft pick and swingman Justin Anderson, along with Bogut, to roll the dice on the athletic Nerlens Noel.
Don't think for a minute that this means that Bogey is going to be a 76er for long. I'm willing to bet he doesn't even play a single minute for them.

Whether through buyout or trade (my money's on buyout), Bogut will be available as a free agent soon enough. A fair number of title hopefuls will be throwing offers at him, and there's every chance we'll see him in a third straight NBA Finals.
UPDATE: there is a possibility of Andrew Bogut being able to return to the Golden State Warriors should he be bought out. Typically, league rules (also known as the Zydrunas Ilgauskas rule) prevent a team from reacquiring a player they traded, until 1 July of the next league calendar. In Bogut's case however, the rule does not apply, as Dallas becomes the most recent team to waive Bogut, according to Bobby Marks of The Vertical.

Now let's wait and see what jersey Bogut will finish the 2016-17 season in. All the best, big fella!
