Grand Canyon University has created a pipeline to search for more Aussie talent, most recently acquiring Gerard Martin for their 2014-2015 season. Boise State is also quite proactive in their search for Australian talent, with 3 Australians currently on their roster.
Owies has been a regular in the Australian U17 squad for over a year now and has proven to be one of the most consistent point guards in the country. He'd be considered one of the premier point guards for the Class of 2016 in the country, averaging 3.3 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 2.7 apg for the Australian U17 squad at the FIBA Oceania Men's Championship series vs New Zealand late last year.
In April he was a member of the Victoria Metro squad that won gold at the U18's Australian Junior Championships - averaging 8 ppg, 3.7 rpg and 3.8 apg while shooting 32% from the field.
