EuroView: Dillon goes for 26, Broekhoff records a double-double
Daniel Dillon led all scorers this week while over in Russia, Ryan Broekhoff put up a double-double in a double-overtime thriller.
In Poland Daniel Dillon went off for 26 points in a game-high performance as PGE Turow came home strong to defeat Slask Wroclaw 72-85. Dillon had a very impressive stat line; also contributing 5 rebounds and 5 assists, while his 26 points came on 11/18 shooting from the field. Dillon was finishing the majority of possessions while on the court, also recording 5 of Turow’s 9 turnovers.

Ultimately it was a superb game for the former Arizona Wildcat who ensured his team earned a much-needed win. The game was had many momentum swings, with Turow surrendering their early lead in the second quarter. Only to storm home with an 18-30 quarter to wipe out Wroclaw’s last ditch effort for victory. The win was the third in a row for Turow and moves them up to 11th with a 4-5 record.
In the VTB United League, Ryan Broekhoff put up a double-double in a double-overtime thriller. Broekhoff delivered an impressive 16 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists in 35 minutes in what turned out to be a thrilling contest. However Khimki ran out winners after Lokomotiv Kuban continued to press the hosts after a slow start. Lokomotiv did well to stay in the contest, especially given they were shooting just 35% from the field and also missed opportunities at the line (19/29 FT). Despite this, they would have pleased coach Bartzokas as they were attacking the rim.
Broekhoff did have an average shooting night, going 4/11 from the field, yet also converting three triples. Any game that goes to double-overtime is seen as a missed opportunity, and the same could be said for KubanL, as a win would have put them equal with fifth, but now they sit in seventh on the league table.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2yGpihjhuc ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne conceded just their second loss of the season in the French Pro A, falling 89-86 to Chalon. The high scoring ensured an entertaining contest, with both teams giving a good account of themselves. ASVEL lost despite recording 23 assists compared to 11 turnovers, and playing great team basketball. On a positive note, David Andersen was again in top form with 13 points (5/10 FG), 5 assists and 5 rebounds. Andersen’s passing ability was again a highlight for ASVEL, as it has been in several games in recent months. Though ASVEL played well, they couldn’t get the job done in the end, after scores were tied up entering the final quarter.
Fortunately, ASVEL were able to redeem themselves just three days later, with 50-70 victory over Orleans. The win over 13th ranked Orleans was expected and again ASVEL played extremely impressive basketball, recording 22 assists while their opponents were restricted to just 7. Despite being a quieter game for Andersen, who scored 5 points, 4 rebounds and 1 assist in 26 minutes, the performance was still enough to ensure ASVEL remain atop the league table with a 9-2 record.

Gran Canaria were down by 1 point after the opening quarter, they outscored the visitors 54-33 across the second and third quarters to gain control of the match.
Brad Newley played well for Gran Canaria, adding 13 points, 3 rebounds and 1 assist. While Newley would only connected on 1/5 from long-range, Gran Canaria shot a combined 11/22 from deep and came away with the win and 5th position on the league table.

Mitch McCarron scored 9 points in Palencia’s 62-71 win over FC Barcelona II in the Spanish second division (LEB Gold). McCarron played 20 minutes and shot 4/6 from the field, including one three-pointer. The game went to script, as both teams played well in what was a quality encounter between two top four sides. Palencia only pulled away in the third quarter on the back of the relentless defense which held the hosts to just 6 points. The win ensures Palencia remain in first on the league table with 10 wins and just one loss.

Still in the LEB Gold, Dan Trist scored 17 vital points to help Oviedo to a close 98-95 victory over Coruna. Trist was impressive from the field (7/11 FG) and also grabbed 6 rebounds, despite Oviedo's struggles grabbing defensive boards. Oviedo took very good care of the ball and displayed a good balance between offensive aggression and control.
Oviedo would not have won without the performance of American Jordan Swing, who scored 42 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists while hitting 8/9 three-pointers and 8/8 at the charity stripe. Trist and Swing are two great imports for Oviedo and a large part of the reason they sit in 5th with a 7-4 record.

Ben Madgen had his quietest game of the season for VOO Verviers-Pepinster, scoring just 6 points (3/9 FG) in a 66-94 thrashing at the hands of Spirou. While Madgen did also contribute 3 assists and 2 rebounds, that was the extent of his impact and the same could be said for many of his teammates as Verviers-Pepinster were outplayed in every facet of the game. The visiting Spirou were lights out when shooting the ball and recorded an impressive 20 assists. The hosts struggled for any cohesion and looked rather out of sorts. As a result, they have now fallen to fourth on the league table with a 5-4 record.

After losing their first game of the season, BC Zalgiris Kaunas responded with a 73-82 win over Neptunas. Zalgiris got out to a 9 point lead after the first quarter, though Neptunas put up a respectable effort until the fourth quarter when Zalgiris stepped the intensity up a gear to ensure victory. For Brock Motum it was another low impact performance following a solid Euroleague outing, scoring 6 points, 4 rebounds in 20 minutes as court time was spread among the deep Zalgiris bench.
