Corey Maynard to play in VTB United League
Second year NBL player Corey Maynard of the Townsville Crocodiles has signed a deal to play with Bisons Loimaa as Finland's lone representative in the VTB United League, the same competition that Ryan Broekhoff participates in with Lokomotiv Kuban.

Following an injury plagued NBL debut season with the Cairns Taipans, Maynard was able to contribute for Townsville in his second year as a professional after a stellar collegiate career with Bryant in which he was named to the 2014 All-NEC third team. The feisty guard was one of the most improved players in the NBL, providing 6.3 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game in the past season and provided genuine back up minutes off the bench as his team finished in 7th place.
Maynard has proven to be a reliable point guard with an ability to connect on open shots from the perimeter, get to the rim, hit open team mates and play stifling defense. He is a complete all-rounder that also works hard to make the most of his talent and abilities - he just never gives up.

Like Cameron Gliddon who also recently signed to play in Europe with AZS Koszalin in Poland, Maynard has represented Australia at the World University Games, playing a key role for his country in the 2011 event hosted by China and again in 2015 in Korea in which he performed well against Finland. In 2011, he teamed up with Angus Brandt who has also just inked a deal to play with BC Neptūnas Klaipeda in Lithuania.
Bisons Loimaa (17-11) are currently placed 3rd in the Finnish Korisliiga, and will be hoping that Maynard will provide a spark as they look to make a playoff run in a league fast gaining credibility. In the more reputable VTB United League, Maynard's new side boasts a less impressive 8-16 record as they sit in 10th place. However in all reality they will be unable to make up lost ground to reach the finals in this league.
