Broekhoff's hot shooting results in victory
Ryan Broekohoff’s hot shooting helped Lokomotiv Kuban secure the second seed in the Group E Euroleague standings with their win over Unicaja Malaga, while Brock Motum was perfect from the field in Zalgiris Kaunas loss to CSKA Moscow.
With Round 13 of the Euroleague Top 16 coming to a start, Lokomotiv Kuban faced Unicaja Malaga. Kicking off the first half of action Lokomotiv came out taking the lead early and they didn’t look back outscoring their opponents in the first two quarters, which allowed them to go into halftime up 39-35.
In the second half, Lokomotiv continued adding to the lead thanks to a dominating performance in the second half of play. Lokomotiv outscored Unicaja Malaga 42-25 through the final two-quarters, which in turn helped them come out with the win 81-60.
Ryan Broekhoff got into foul trouble early which didn’t allow him to play much. However he didn’t let that prevent him from having an impact on the game, as he finished the night making perfect four of four shots from behind the arc on his way to with 14 points, 2 steals and 1 assist. Ryan’s excellent play helped Lokomotiv outscore the opposition by 21 points in his 16 minutes of action.

BC Zalgiris Kaunas looked to pull off an upset victory over one of the top teams in the competition; CSKA Moscow. Both teams continued fighting back and forth as they each looked to find an edge over their adversary early on. However Zalgiris ended up getting the best of their opponents, allowing them to go into halftime up 48-47.
In the second half of play, CSKA Moscow looked like a different team. They started to catch fire on the offensive end, thanks to Zalgiris defense that had no answer to stopping the Russians from scoring. That allowed CSKA to come out with the win 100-86.
Brock Motum finished the night hitting two shots from behind the arc in finishing with 13 points on a perfect 5/5 shooting from the field, despite receiving only 18 minutes of playing time.

In game 1 of the Eurocup semifinals, Herbalife Gran Canaria took on Galatasaray Odeabank Istanbul. From tip-off, Gran Canaria trailed early as Galatasaray led 25-24. They continued their excellent play in the second quarter, which allowed them to gain an even bigger advantage as Galatasaray went into the main break up 49-42.
In the second half, Gran Canaria came out flat as the Turkish side looked to take advantage of their opponents lackadaisical play. Galatasaray’s offense was too much to handle for the Spaniards, as they shot 54% on the night, and in the end that allowed them to come out with the win 89-75.
Brad Newley’s usual defensive efforts were on full display all game, as he finished the night with 8 points on 3/10 shooting from the field, to go with 4 rebounds and 1 assist in 20 minutes of action.
